Yoga in general

Yoga is a science, art and philosophy that purifies our body and mind, liberates us of all the disturbances. Yoga can awaken in us splendid emotions and a deep happiness, which can help us strengthen our relationships with others.

Yoga has many different methods (Hatha Yoga, Vinyas Yoga, Vini Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Yin Yoga, Kriya Yoga etc.) composed of various techniques such as: physical postures, breathing exercises, relaxation and meditation. These tools benefit all the bodily systems, promoting an overall health.

In the Yoga Sūtras (ancient fundamental yoga texts written by Patañjali) Yoga is explained as:

Yoga Sutra 1.2
Yogah cittavrtti nirodhah

Yoga is the cessation of movements in the consciousness.

Or

Yoga is the ability to direct the mind exclusively towards an object and sustain focus in that direction without any distractions.

What is Yin Yoga?

Intense, Revitalizing, Relaxing

Yin Yoga is a quiet practice that teaches you to relax profoundly, prepares the mind and body for long meditation sessions, stimulates the vital energy (Chi)in the meridians, regains and expands the original range of motion of the connective tissues: ligaments, tendons and joints. And lastly it recovers the natural curvature of the spine and extends the spine´s flexibility.

The practice consists of mainly floor poses which you maintain for at least 5 minutes, breathing exercises, meditation and relaxation.

Yin Yoga is an ideal complement to other more dynamic types of Yoga such as Vini/Hatha/Vinyasa (Yang Yoga).

Open to all levels and ages.

The difference between Yin Yoga and Yang Yoga:
The difference between these two styles of Yoga lays in the different tissues (muscles and connective tissues) that each of them targets the most.

The more dynamic style, Yang Yoga, uses dynamic sequences consisting of repetitive movements to strengthen, stretch and tone muscles. Yang Yoga doesn´t work as much the connective tissues as Yin Yoga does.

In Yin Yoga, a more static style, you learn to relax the muscles instead of engaging them in order to work the connective tissues. Using mainly floor poses which you maintain for at least 5 minutes, you seek to relax the muscles which enable you to direct pressure to ligaments, tendons and joints. These more rigid tissues need continuous pressure for a longer period of time in order for them to slowly lengthen, strengthen and open up.

What is Vini Yoga?

Therapeutic, Personalized, Dynamic

Vini Yoga is a therapeutic, restorative and personalized practice, where the breath is of vital importance.

A Vini Yoga class consists of slow and precise movements made consciously with a just effort, coordinated by the depth of your inspiration and the length of your expiration. Thus, the duration and intensity of movements are determined by the individual capacity of his/her deepest inhalation and longest exhalation.

In this practice you will improve your breathing, increase your overall awareness and strengthen, stretch and nurture your body on all levels. Meditation and relaxation are included in practice.

The objective of any Yoga practice is to generate the potential that everyone possesses. To achieve this we must take into account the needs, capacities and personal aspirations. I will use the most appropriate tools and personalize the practice as much as possible to assist my students to personal discovery and transformation.

What is Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga?

Dynamic, Vigorous, Purifying

My Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga classes are active and intense, achieving the maximum balance between the physical body, mind and vital energy (prana).
To achieve this goal I combine a dynamic sequence of physical postures with breathing exercises, meditation and relaxation, respecting the needs and capacities of each student.
There are nearly 200 Hatha Yoga postures with many variations, which develop an agile back and help the circulation in all organs, glands and tissues. Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga stretches, strengthens, relaxes, tones, nourishes and improves the physical body, helps to calm the mind and stabilizes emotions.

Open to all students without severe pain or physical problems.

What is Restorative Yoga?

Soft, liberating, regenerating

Restorative Yoga is a practice with the only goal, to relax.
Using comfortable positions, mostly supported by blankets or cushions, you have to surrender yourself completely without using any effort. By being aware of your breathing and letting go of all your tensions on physical, mental and emotional level; you'll rejuvenate and rebalance yourself in silence. In comparison to Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga doesn’t have the goal to stretch or strengthen any part of the body. The only goal is to rebuild and recover yourself in a total relaxation.

Open to all levels and ages.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique or tool, which can be used in two ways: therapeutic or as personal growth, even though experience has shown us that you can´t separate one way from the other.
Using Reiki therapeutically is a way to transmit energy in order to re-balance the possible excesses, shortcomings or energetic blockages. Or anything else that suffers because of our lifestyle, uncontrolled mind or unbalnaced emotional state. The technique is very simple and effective: through the hands of a Reiki therapist the energy of the body and mind are being strengthened and rebalanced.
Reiki is being transmitted through the energetic channels of the body, releasing our emotions and recovering our vitality. When the natural functions of the body are reestablished, the generated symptoms will transform into health and happiness.
